Marlborough Films, Dir. Annabel Jankel

TV film adaptation from the award winning novel by David Almond. This is a beautiful, emotional story about a young lad, Michael, who does an angel a good turn and who gets his reward.

When the boy first discovers Skellig in the far corner of the broken down shed in the garden of his new home, he appears to be a disgusting crumpled-up heap of vermin-ridden tramp. He actually eats the spiders that scramble across him and the mice that scuttle around him. As he thrives under the care of Michael and his friend Mina his wings unfold and his face becomes young and beautiful. The angel in return goes on to save Michael’s new baby sister who has been diagnosed with a heart problem.
